Evaluation 5: How did you attract/address your audience?

The font of my mast head 'INSPIRE' gives off a rough and edgy look similar to Kerrang to imply the loud heavy music smashing the mast head. This gives of what genre of music this magazine is about if people recognize magazines like Kerrang. I named my magazine "INSPIRE" because I want my audience to be inspired by my magazine that nothing is impossible when it comes to music also when artists are asked what inspires them they reply music. I added a bar at the top of the cover to act as eye-catching advertisement when the magazine would be in a shop you would see that. I included three featured stories to relate to my audience and give them more of a reason to buy the magazine. I used the colours black and yellow because the yellow pops against the black and vibrantly stands out.

I used the colours red, yellow, black and white because they had good chemistry together and complimented each other really well. The colours stand out from other magazines and give that magazine an edgy and urban feel, the black because of the clothes she is wearing, yellow to make the page pop and the red to stand for a misfit as she isn't your normal typical girly girl she's an outsider but that's what makes her likable.

For my contents page I carried the theme of colours through to link it back to the front cover. I used a black border to outline the page. For my features and extra's I added photo's on the right hand side to link to the copy on the contents page, I used black borders around the photo's to tie in with the black border on the page and also to attract the attention to the images.

The third image of the girl at the bottom of the page her pose implies a fun amusing aurora to the contents page, I used this image to lighten up the page with the harsh colour scheme. I put the page numbers in a yellow box for the audience to be able to navigate themselves easily around the magazine.

I decided to simply use a black font for the featured and extra's because I feel as if the magazine as whole is quite busy and I didn't want to overpower it might adding a different colour font. This is the normality of the page. The centre image shows a man in a jester costume to show the genre of the page is Rock/Metal/Indie and to prove this magazine is all about standing out and being different.  The top image is of Green Day merchandise to link to the featured stories, Green Day is a popular band and adding the photo there would catch the audiences attention.

I captured the audience on the double spread page by having a happy photo of bad attitude on the left hand side to show there is some happiness to her story unlike the copy says on the cover, the picture contrasts against the title as happy and sad. The title says "I WAS HEARTBROKEN AND ASHAMED..." shows emotional attachment to the text this allows the audience an insight of her story and captures their attention.

I attracted the audience by the boldness of my magazine using a synergy by the font saying it's ok to stand out and be yourself. My magazine is all about being different and that's what get's the audiences attention. Overall the images and font I had included in my magazine have captured the audience by their boldness.
